Why prefer trader over manufacurer?
Some buyers prefer to pay a higher price to buy goods from a trading company. Than getting the same from a manufacturer directly. There are many possible reasons for this.
1) Cost: Although the price is lower when buying from manufacturers compared with trading companies, a buyer sometimes needs a multitude of products. Most of the time, this cannot be supplied by one manufacturer. To fulfill their requirement, a buyer may have to employ resources to manage the increased number of manufacturer relationships. This actually increases their cost and counteracts the benefit they receive from the lower product price. This type of case is quite common in the commodity industry.

2) Risk: A buyer needs a steady supply channel. Since he is not a direct consumer he needs to continuously purchase to ensure a steady supply. If he does purchase directly from the manufacturer, and meets some problems, the buyer must find a replacement. But, find a replacement is not easy, it takes time and the supply chain may be in danger of breaking. If the customer purchases from a trading company, the situation could be better.

3) The difference in service: Since trading companies specialize in foreign/local trade they accumulate a great deal of experience, whereas the manufacturers may be short of such experience. Manufacturers often make the following mistakes at the beginning:
No samples: When you go to buy clothes, and the seller keeps the clothes locked up and you can only look but not touch, will you buy them? I think not. It is the same for samples. If you don't provide enough samples to help the buyer promote your products to end users, how can the buyer place an order with you?
