About The Cachoeira Alta coffee farm Project is located in Lajinha a

Municipality within the mountain region of Minas Gerais state in

Brazil. Cachoeira Alta farm foundation occurred in 1970 when Dr.

Moacyr Lima a retired surgeon and former general of the Brazilian Army started an Arabian Coffee plantation. Varieties used then were Bourbon and Mundo Novo.

Today Moacir Jr. With partners conducts the

Cachoeira Alta project with 1.4 millions of coffee threes having the full sustainable philosophy as guideline.

Very important is to say that accordingly with this philosophy since September 2004 Cachoeira Alta Coffee Farm abolished the use of chemical defensives, meaning that only natural products have been used since then. It is planned start in 2005 the local production for all nutrition needs of the plantations.

Plantations

The Cachoeira Alta Farm has coffee trees in three different areas with altitudes ranging from 600 to 1100 meters allowing for coffees with discreet variation in taste and flavor.

The Cachoeira Alta project possesses 550 hectares (1360 acres) of land,35% of which is devoted to the protection of the environment.

Accordingly there are 50 hectares of intact natural forest and

Vegetation protection around water mines.150 hectares (370 acres) of land are dedicated to environmental protection.

As usual within BSCA's farms there is agronomist supervision and due to high soil fertility and adequate management philosophy productivity ranks top in the country as much as 14,5 bags per acre without irrigation.

The following principles are key concerns and commitments:

Sustainability of water mines and nature in general

Plantations in continuous ditches and in level curves for erosion control Mechanic control priority with incorporation to the soil

Agronomist prescription based on soil analyses for all products used In the plantations. Cachoeira Alta farm has turned decisively to Organic conduction, change that occurred since September 2004.

Keeping all installations permanently in rigorous cleanliness

Condition is a key issue to the farm Coffee storage with total hygiene and alimentary safety conditions Emphasis on employees' training Continuous equipment maintenance
