| About | Chitram School Of Tanjore Painting was founded by artist Chitra and her husband Ramesh in year 1996. Chitra grew up in a world of artist, theatre and music which surrounded her since a toddler. Her father late Appukuttn Achary was a milestone in the world of South Indian Traditional Art. He was scuptor, painter and a writer with a unique vision and his contributions to the art community is always remembered. He won the Natioal Award for ivory carving in the year 1965 and his works are even now displayed in Delhi Museum. Chitra developed a natural flair for Tanjore Painting as this form of art is iconic, her being with her father most of the time helped her understand the anotomy and structure to a great extent. Chitra has worked on more than 1000 paintings. |
