Outer surface greyish-brown, rough, sometimes scaly, easily exfoliated, with distinct elliptical lenticels and longitudinal wrinkles, appearing yellowish-brown when the coarse bark peeled; inner surface purplish-brown, relatively smooth, with fine and dense longitudinal striations and exhibiting oily trace on scratching.
