About Strategic Management Systems Pty Ltd has two international service delivery vehicles.



We specialise in personal leadership development, individual coaching for improved work performance, leadership and organisational assessments, and organisational development, consultation and planning. For several years we have been heavily involved in the relationships between safety outcomes and the many factors which contribute to safe work performance. For almost a decade strategic management systems has maintained the highest sustained return to work rates of any jurisdiction throughout the global community. From that involvement, and the request of many of our customers we have formalised that part of our business model via the evolution of transformationalsafety.

The organisational, business and leadership principles used most frequently are not particularly effective in today's chaotic business world. Workplace safety continues to remain elusive for many; despite the "buckets of money" often thrown at it. Research has shown, for many years, that poor safety culture directly leads to poor safety outcomes. The impact of safety leadership within the cultural model cannot be overstated. Transformationalsafety is the global leader in the application of transformational leadership principles as a powerful vehicle for maximising safety outcomes via cultural change.



For a number of years david g broadbent (the director of strategic management systems) has considered the constructs surrounding workplace safety from the perspective of the leadership functions which occur in and around the safety environment. It was out of that thinking that david has embraced the full range leadership model as the model of choice for assisting organisations focus and develop their internal safety cultures. David is also the inventor of the integrated safety culture assessment model; which incorporates aspects of traditional safety auditing (iso 18000 and/or as/nzs 4801), quantitative assessment (safety survey metrics), qualitative assessment (targeted focus groups). The integrated safety culture assessment model then draws all of the data together and presents it in a form that takes advantage of one of the leading safety cultural frameworks available today.



More recently david was asked to present his thinking about safety and leadership at the 28th international congress of psychology which was held in beijing, China during 2004 (the olympic games of psychology). This presentation, amongst the foremost collection of psychologists from throughout the global community, cemented david's position as an internationally recognised voice on the associations between safety outcomes and leadership. As a result of the powerful support and encouragement david has received from his global colleagues he has developed the transformational safety improvement system. Indeed david is the first in the world to coin the phrase "transformational safety" as a descriptor for the powerful relationships between transformational leadership theory and its associated safety correlates.
