TESA, Talleres de Escoriaza SAU, was founded in Spain in 1941 for the manufacturing of locking devices for luggage and traveling articles. The company started its development in 1947 with the manufacturing of locks for buildings, and in 1967 the first TESA knobsets were manufactured. The important increases in market share allowed for a permanent upgrading of the manufacturing facilities and gave way in 1970 to the construction of a new factory and headquarter in Irun, North of Spain.
