| About | We began treasures with 3 people, other than self and wife, making products as giveaways for the business houses in the city. Our leather items were much appreciated, and the sales grew. Meanwhile, I learnt the art of hand carving. We employed well educated graduates from fine arts and architecture for this new venture, which, I am sorry to admit, was a disaster. We were members of a social organisation called nripo, and we were suggested trying poor and needy people. We employed a few maid servants' grown up children, and we found them quite intelligent and meticulous in what was taught. We employed 2 deaf and dumb girls, who could pick up faster than normal people. We also employed border line cases from the local mental asylum, but we did not continue for long with them due to legalities and responsibilities. Today we are having 14 people doing the core art of carving and colouring the leather components, and the assembly/stitching is done by skilled craftsmen on the basis of qtys required. We make around 2000 wallets,150 handbags and 1500 key tags per month. The quantities can increase if we have more regular buyers. |
