About The Main Rum Company Limited specialises in the importation, blending and sale of bulk rum and sugar-cane distillates, in particular aged rum.

Mr. Benjamin J. Cross de Chavannes (aka Ben Cross), a doyen within the Wine & Spirit Trade, created the Company in 1984. Based in Liverpool the company employs a team of experienced professionals dedicated to providing a unique service to customers worldwide.

Rum is imported from ACP countries (African, Caribbean and Pacific), mainly Guyana, from Central America and a variety of other rum producing countries.

The rum is warehoused in Liverpool and the majority stored in small wood at a maximum strength of 70% vol., to benefit maturation and to satisfy UK road and rail transport restrictions for movement of goods in cask. Light rum is also held in stainless steel vats at high strength for delivery in tank or drum, or for blending.

A considerable range is available, from single mark estate rums to complex blends using various types and origins. We also hold limited stocks of premium-aged rums for the real connoisseur.

Sales are made Under-Bond, to the Beverage trade, Tobacco and Confectionary industries, in ISO/Road Tanker, IBC, Drum or Barrel. Transport to an appointed consignee together with the necessary Movement Guarantee can be arranged, if required.

All rums conform to the EC rum definition and have been cleared for Free Circulation with the European Community.

In addition to the usual activity, The Main Rum Company is a member of the UK Imported Spirits Committee, a sub-committee of the Wine & Spirits Association of Great Britain. Representation is made at regular meetings and a variety of relevant subjects are discussed with Government officials, HMR&C and other Trade Associations. Input is provided on current or proposed EC regulations that are pertinent to the trade. Eg Product Definition, Food Safety Issues incl. GMO, and Dangerous Goods Regulations.
