About | Corn. Van Loocke NV started in the beginning of the 20th century as a soaps works company named "The Sun", which was active in the manufacturing of liquid glycerine brown soaps and the distribution of petroleum and petroleum products. After the Second World War a full range of ready to use wood preservatives was being introduced on site (based on Zinc and Copper Naphthenates) . In 1985 we moved to our existing premises. The additional installation of a distillation unit gave us the necessary distillation flexibility to produce semi-distilled and distilled Naphthenic Acid. From 1990 till october 1999 Corn. Van Loocke was a part of the Blagden Holding Group. In 1999 a management buy-out was succesfully achieved. Our regained independence created new opportunities for growth and development. In November 2007 Corn. Van Loocke was taken over by the Belgian multinational Umicore. As from 01-01-2008 Corn. Van Loocke was fully integrated within Umicore and the name changed into Umicore Specialty Materials Brugge. |
