| About | Video-Film Productions Ltd was established in 1974, initially as a TV commercial production house in TVE group with a strategic objective of assisting its sister company TVB to develop new advertisers for TV, which was then a relatively new medium, by helping them create low cost TV commercials. As such a strategic objective gradually became less important, the company also grew to become a full service production house catering to a wide spectrum of market segments. In 1980, it started to invest heavily on its own post-production facility, which has progressed, as time went by, to be one of the most comprehensive, fully digital facilities in the region. In 1996, TVE was acquired by the South China Morning Post and Video-Film continues to be a wholly owned subsidiary of the SCMP group. With a staff of 50, Video-Film has two operation divisions, Production and Facility. The Facility Division concentrates on video and audio post-production, ranging from special effect creation to computer graphics, and caters to the post-production needs of clients and fellow production houses in HK and from other countries in the region. Our Facility Division is equipped with fully digital post-production facilities, including Rank Cintel Ursa Telecine, two Quantel non-linear edit suits, one linear real time Alpha edit suite, Quantel Paintboxes and SGI CG workstations, two off-line suites and a digital audio recording studio. We operate on both D1 and Digital Betacam formats. The Production Division caters mainly to the local production market. However, our production staff are well experienced in organizing production in China, Southeast Asia and the US. Although the company started off with TV commercial production, it expanded into Business Video production as early as in 1984, seeing the fast growing demand for such a communication medium. Business Video production has become a very important line of business for the company, with its scope covering corporate video, marketing video, training video, video coverage of events and teleconferencing. Our Production Division has six well experienced producers, three specializing in commercial production and three specializing in business video. Each of them has spent from 9 to 18 years in production management. Backing up these six producing teams is the full fledged in house state-of-the-art post-production facility, which has helped ensure a high degree of efficiency and quality, as well as flexibility in costs. Such a strong combination has made us perhaps the strongest in business video production in HK. Video-Film is also active in China. As the China market opened up, we set up a joint venture company with Guangdong TV Station in Guangzhou in 1993, with a similar structure as the one in our Hong Kong headquarters. Though still small in scale with a staff of only 28, this joint venture company has firmly established itself as a leading post-production facility to cater to the fast growing need for high end post-production support to the TV advertising production in China. It has also benefited Video-Film’s Hong Kong operation as an effective production base in the Mainland.
