| About | one-way mirror or one-way glass (because it is possible to see through it in one direction only), reflects some percentage of the light incident on it and transmits the remainder to the other side. It is a sheet of glass coated with a layer of metal only a few dozen atoms thick, transmitting some light and reflecting the remainder (from both sides). It is typically used as an apparently normal mirror in a brightly lit room, with a much darker room on the other side. People on the brightly lit side see their own reflection-it looks like a normal mirror. People on the dark side see through it-it looks like a transparent window. |
